A new series, Film Talks, brings area film professors to show films and talk about them

The St. Tammany Art Association and the Pontchartrain Film Festival will present a new media arts program titled Film Talks. The four-week series will bring film professors and filmmakers from throughout the region for a series of informal screenings and conversations on film. Imagine film school, without the tests.

Film Talks will be held from 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays on July 10, 17, 24 and 31, 2019 at the St. Tammany Art Association, 320 N. Columbia St. in downtown Covington. Admission is free.

July 10: Talking About Film - UNO Professor of Film Angela Catalano discusses film form and style, with film clips. 

July 17: Sequence Structuring in Screenwriting - LSU Professor of Screenwriting Mari Kornhauser leads a conversation on Damien Sayre Chazelle's "Whiplash." 

July 24: The Language of Film - Loyola Professor of Film Studies Mike Miley takes an indepth look at Sofia Coppolla's film, "The Bling Ring." 

July 31: Cinema Verita - Pontchartrain Film Festival Director Sharon Edwards discusses fact and fiction in Haskell Wexler's "Medium Cool."
